WHAT IS YOGA THERAPY?

"Yoga therapy is the process of empowering individuals to progress toward improved health and well-being through the application of the philosophy and practice of Yoga." International Association of Yoga Therapists

A Yoga Therapy session may include postures, breath awareness and techniques, relaxation techniques and meditation.

You do not need to have prior yoga experience to benefit from Yoga Therapy.

WHAT IS A YOGA THERAPIST?

Accredited Yoga Therapists are well-trained and experienced yoga teachers with extensive additional training in Yoga Therapy from certified schools recognised by the Australian Association of Yoga Therapists.  This extensive training combined with years of teaching and their own yoga practice allows Yoga Therapists to develop therapy sessions that are customised to meet the individual’s needs or the group focus.

WHAT HAPPENS IN A YOGA THERAPY SESSION?

PRIVATE SESSIONS

Sessions are available on Wednesday mornings and Thursday afternoons.

Please PHONE/TEXT or EMAIL  to arrange bookings.

Private Sessions are one-on-one sessions that cater to your particular mental health challenge/s.

The sessions are held at our Clinic in Geelong West.

You can book a single session, but to gain greater benefit, I recommend booking four sessions. This allows your Therapist time to design a tailor made program just for you, and then monitor, adapt and modify the program so that is is best meeting your needs.

A trauma sensitive approach is taken in all Private Sessions.  This means that all instructions are invitational and optional and your Therapist takes great care to minimise  potential triggers.  Because of the invitational nature of the session,  you remain in control. You can choose to join in, take a break or stop the session if you need to.

The first session will involve filling out a CONFIDENTIAL form and then talking briefly with your Therapist about your challenge/s and what you would like your Yoga Therapy sessions to achieve.  Once we have this background information, your Therapist will start taking you through specific yoga techniques for your mental health challenge/s.

Sessions typically include breathing techniques,  gentle yoga poses and deep relaxation.

Private Sessions are for 1 hour.

You do not need to have any previous yoga experience and you do NOT need to be flexible, skinny or fit.

IN-HOME SESSIONS

Please PHONE/TEXT or EMAIL  to arrange bookings.

If you are unable to come into the Clinic, your Yoga Therapist can come to you.

In-Home Sessions are one-on-one sessions that cater to your particular mental health challenge/s.

The sessions are held in your own home and all equipment is provided.
